5 Ways to Survive Transition

Sep 15, 2021

Transition is hard! Change is hard. It’s not impossible, but it is hard. My family just moved to a new home about 5 miles out of town. As I’m coming back to my roots and making adjustments to how I’ve been living for the last 10+ years (the grocery store is no longer 5 blocks away, turns out I had become a bit accustomed to that), I’m having to work hard to stay grounded and continue my practices of self-care.  It’s been beautiful, but it is a challenge. Deciding where to keep the plates, which drawer the silverware should go in, and deciding where the linen cupboard should be are just some of the struggles that come with moving into a new place. It’s a transition, and the transition is never easy, but it is so worth it. Sitting on my back porch with my dog, the cats that came with the place, and watching the sunrise as I write this make it oh so worth the challenges.

With this transition in my personal life, also comes a transition in Purely You Healing. Over the last 6-7 years, I have worked with over 100 women to help guide them to become the purest version of themselves. I have watched so many women come to me feeling broken and hopeless, to becoming full of light, peace, and happiness. It is a transition for them, but one I adore. The one thing I have always worked towards in this work is true healing, not just symptom management. I don’t love the idea of a pill to cover up the pain or something to numb your feelings, so instead, we work to uncover the root causes and make the changes necessary to heal. It has been in that work that I have found a pathway to guide you from that burnout, exhausted, “broken” feeling, to life as Purely You. Purely You Healing is now transitioning out of strictly one-on-one offerings and into a more intensely guided program. You’ll receive 12 weeks of instruction and sessions with me as well as some other bonuses along the way. The goal of this transition is two-fold. 1. It allows me to work with people who have the same philosophy as I do. People who are willing to invest the time and make the changes to live life as Purely You, instead of folks who come to me to feel “better” so they can make it through the week. I don’t work in symptom management remember? I work to heal you from the inside out. 2. This allows us to build a stronger community of women who are all on the same journey. We know there is strength in numbers and peace in sharing our journey with others. And, the truth of it is, I preach the same words to so many of my clients from session to session that this structure will allow our one-on-one time together to be less teaching and more energy work/healing. This has been on my heart for a while now, so it’s time to honor those nudges and trust my intuition-- just like I tell you all to do.

Please know, I will continue to work with my clients, just as I always have until October of 2022. This will be a slow transition, but it will be a glorious one. Those who work through the program will be given the opportunity to continue to work one-on-one with me after the program is completed, as well. I’m not getting out of the business, just changing how my services are offered.

Why do I write all of this in a blog, instead of just an email to my current clients? Simply because it is important to practice what I preach. If you’ve moved before, you know the pain of moving. If you’ve had to make hard choices in your business (or family routines or job) you know the pain of those transitions. You also know the joy and the peace that comes with making the right decisions. I was blessed with a gift to heal others. I was blessed with a connection to God and my intuition that is deep and provides me with great wisdom when working with my clients. But I’m still just a normal gal, living life, just like you. I’m not above life challenges because of these gifts I have. I experience them and put my own teachings into practice through them.

Here’s what I’ve learned in the last few months of transition.

  1. Stay grounded. I have always loved to ground by being out in nature, focusing on the ground beneath my feet as I walk. When that isn’t an option, then I turn to guided meditations, like this one
  2. Honor your needs. It is so easy, when life is a bit chaotic, to abandon all the basics. Good nutrition, water, exercise, sleep. I caught myself living on chips and dip, sweet tea, and 5 hours of sleep. When I woke up achy, short-tempered and overwhelmed I had to remember to get back to the basics. I bought berries, baby carrots, and salad kits to keep at the new house while I was painting, unpacked my big water cup, and set an alarm to wrap it up at the end of the day so I could get adequate sleep again. It made such a huge difference.
  3. Ask for help. You do not have to be superwoman, you do not have to do it all on your own. Plus, packing is less daunting when you can giggle with your friends about that Shania Twain CD that’s just been collecting dust for the last few years.. Okay, okay, maybe more than a few. :)
  4. Remember nothing is permanent. Just as the seasons change, the sun rises and sets, and our children grow… everything is moveable and changeable. That paint color on the wall doesn’t have to say forever. These cupboards can be rearranged a million times in this lifetime. Sometimes we stress ourselves over these kinds of decisions and forget that nothing is permanent.
  5. A place that is well-loved, will love you well. This property has been here since 1910. The original bunkhouse still stands- it will become my home office, you’ll get to watch that transition on social media. There’s evidence of the life it has provided for those who have been blessed with living here. The people who owned it immediately before us loved it differently. As we have begun to make it our own, I’m watching it transform. From ground that was struggling, trees that were just surviving, and a home that was just holding on, to a beautiful property, trees that are growing and producing, and a home that is expressing the same amount of love we are showing it. Love your home well, love your children well, love yourself well… see what happens when you do.

Transition is hard, but it is so worth it. If you’re ready to make some changes in your life or maybe you’re just interested in learning more about the new service I provide, let’s hop on a chat and talk it all over. Find a time HERE that works for you and we’ll talk all about it.
