What is Energy?

Did you know your body has an energy system, just like it has a skeletal system and circulatory system? Physics has proved that every living thing is comprised of energy. Ancient Japanese and Chinese medicines have known this for thousands of years, but we are just coming around to it in modern cultures. To break it down simply, everything on our planet is comprised of atoms. Those atoms vibrate at specific frequencies and that is what creates the density of each item. Water is unique, but a great example of the differences. When water (H2O) is steam, those atoms are vibrating quickly; when it is ice, they vibrate slowly; as a liquid, they vibrate somewhere in the middle. Foods that serve your body have higher vibrations than those that don't, for example, an organic apple would have a high frequency, where Twinkies would have a low one. Emotions work the same way. The vibration of joy, happiness, and gratitude is very high, whereas the vibrations of anger, grief, and resentment are very low. How does all of this affect your body? 

Well, we were created to be creatures of the highest vibration possible with an energy system that flows consistently and easily. Just like your circulatory system is created to work perfectly in your body. When something happens that disrupts your energy flow or changes your vibration, it causes dis-ease in your body. To stick with our circulatory system analogy, if a clot forms in a vessel it can cause a stroke. The flow is disrupted when that block is created and it causes a physical ailment. The same thing happens when there is a disruption in the flow of your energetic system. The flow is stopped or blocked and a physical ailment occurs. Think about a tension headache. When you are stressed it causes a block in your flow, that energy then becomes stagnant in your neck and shoulders, and before you know it you have a tension headache. 

Sometimes, you can feel the energy in a room too. Have you ever heard the phrase, "the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife?" Tension is such a heavy energy most people can feel it in the air. Most folks can feel happiness and joy in the air too, as they have a very high vibration. The subtler emotions are a bit harder to consciously detect, but the highs and lows are fairly obvious. The goal is to keep the energy of your space vibrating at the highest frequency possible. Your cells are able to best function with higher vibrations. That is why you feel better, sleep better, and have more stable moods when you consume foods that are of a high vibration (not a sugar high and crash, but the sustainability of proper nutrition). That is also why you feel so heavy when you're feeling sadness or anger, and like your walking on clouds when you're in love. 

What kinds of things can you do to maintain the highest frequency possible? Take care of yourself. Whatever that looks like for you. Release feelings of guilt, grief, and anger. Practice gratitude. Move your body every day. Drink enough water. Eat good-for-you foods. Find happiness in the little things. Pay it forward. Speak your truth. Pray or meditate. Spend time with those who lift you up. Consume only media that has a high vibration (Law and Order: SVU would be an example of a show with a low vibration). Be in or around water. Avoid people who suck the life out of you. Spend time in nature. 

You don't have to do all of these things at once. Take them on one step at a time. Little by little, you will begin to resonate at a higher and higher frequency. That is always the goal for you.
